Loretta Hattie Smith, age 85, of Royse City, TX, passed away on September 11, 2019. She was born November 10, 1933, in Fargo, ND, to Leopold Simon Facey and Lucille (Hanson) Facey.
She and her family left Fargo, ND at an early age, moving to Centerville, CA, a small town near Fresno. While in high school, she met her soon-to-be husband, and high school crush, Charles Smith. Soon after graduating from Washington Union High in 1952, Charles and Loretta were married and started building their family. The family moved from California to Tyler, TX in the late 1960s, then eventually settling in Royse City, TX.
Early in her life, Loretta worked in a hatchery and plant shop which started her love of gardening. However, as her family started to grow, she ultimately dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting her husband as a homemaker. She was fiercely devoted to her family, always. Her passions included sewing, quilt making, gardening, travel, and her church. She was a loyal, principled, and always gave of herself to others, ahead of her own needs. She was a role model for the women in her life, and the glue that held her family together.
Loretta is survived by her children: Colleen Davis and husband Michael, Doyle Smith, Paul Smith, and Jeremy Smith and wife Andria; grandchildren: Chuck and wife Kelly, Justin, Christy and husband Michael, Sarah and husband Trey, April, Matthew and wife Amanda, Makayla, Raegan and husband Drew, Brooklin, Ashtin, and Callaway; and great-grandchildren: Kyle, Roger, Patrick, Violet, Charlotte, Caylee, Caitlyn, Haley, Karson, Eve, Michelle, Monica, Brantley, Arya, Myles, and Kayliegh.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Smith, and children: Kenneth, and Janine; brother: Lee John Facey; sister: Louise Fitzpatrick; and her parents.
A celebration of Loretta’s life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 3900 Rowlett Rd, Rowlett, TX, with Fr. Dankasa as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum.
