Rockwall, TX-Aug. 1, 2024 – The “Thank A Veteran Program,” approved by the Rockwall Commissioners Court on June 25, 2024, is overseen by County Clerk Jennifer Fogg. The program aims to show appreciation to veterans who have served in the armed forces. It is open to all military branches and allows service members to receive discounts from participating merchants.

To be eligible for the discounts, veterans must present the “Thank a Veteran” ID card issued by the County Clerk. This ID card is provided free of charge after the veteran submits their DD-214 separation papers to the County Clerk’s Office. Both the filing and the ID card issuance are free of charge to veterans. The DD-214 papers are non-public records, securely kept at the County Clerk’s office, and are only accessible to the veteran and their immediate family. The County Clerk’s office will begin issuing the ID cards in September.

The “Thank a Veteran” ID card provides significant benefits offered by Rockwall County businesses that have pledged to honor the card by giving cardholders discounts on purchases and services.

Rockwall County merchants interested in participating in supporting our veterans can find the Merchant Participation Form on the “Thank a Veteran” tab on the County Clerk’s page of the County website.

Participating merchants will be listed on the County Clerk’s webpage and are encouraged to sign up now.

The benefits of participation are rewarding for both merchants and veterans.
