The heart of downtown Rockwall came alive Friday night as the San Jacinto Plaza Music Series officially launched its 2026 season on May 1. Opening night delivered exactly what locals have come to love: great music, a welcoming crowd, and an easygoing community vibe.
Hosted by the City of Rockwall, the free concert series runs every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. through October, turning San Jacinto Plaza into a go-to weekend destination for families, couples, and music lovers alike.
A Summer Tradition Returns
Widely known as the “Free Live Music Capital of North Texas,” Rockwall continues its tradition of community-centered entertainment with more than 50 live performances each year, including favorites like Founders Day and Concert by the Lake. The San Jacinto Music Series plays a key role in that lineup, offering consistent, high-quality performances in the heart of downtown.

Opening night set the tone for the season, with attendees bringing lawn chairs, grabbing dinner from nearby restaurants, and settling in for a relaxed evening under the lights. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance—laid-back enough for families with kids, yet lively enough for a casual date night.
What to Expect Each Weekend
Held at San Jacinto Plaza (115 S. San Jacinto St.), the setting itself adds to the experience. The paved plaza and open-air layout invite guests to spread out, dance, sing along, and fully engage with the music. Organizers encourage interaction with performers, making each show feel personal and unique.
Planning a visit is simple:
- Bring your own chairs
- Grab takeout or dine at a local restaurant nearby
- Arrive early to find a great spot
- Stay for the full set or just enjoy part of the evening
Concerts are held weather permitting, with updates posted by 6 p.m. on event days.
