Rockwall, TX – August 18, 2025 – James Weichel brings more than 33 years of experience in the banking industry and currently serves as the Texas Regional President for WaFd Bank. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, WaFd Bank operates 208 branches across nine western states, including locations serving the Dallas and Austin communities in Texas.
In his role, James leads strategic growth, financial performance, and community engagement initiatives across the state. He oversees commercial and branch banking teams, manages loan and deposit portfolios, and drives revenue growth to support the bank’s mission of serving its clients and communities.
Deeply committed to civic involvement, James has served the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce for more than a decade, including as Chairman of the Board. In recognition of his leadership and service, he was named Citizen of the Year by the Chamber in 2022. He has also held board positions with Metrocrest Services, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Education Foundation, Rotary Club of Park Cities, and the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce.
James actively supports a variety of nonprofit organizations including North Texas Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Men of Neamiah. His passion lies in helping others through financial literacy education, mentorship, and volunteerism.
James resides in Rockwall, Texas with his wife of 31 years, Kristen. They have two children: Anna-Kate, 26, a recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma, and Griff, 19, who currently attends Rockwall ISD.
