About the Book

Montoya’s memoir begins with a traumatic childhood, including the loss of her mother to gun violence and a life shaped by uncertainty. Yet through each hardship, she clung to her mother’s words and eventually became the woman her mother dreamed she would be—strong, educated, and free. Told with honesty, grace, and a touch of humor, Great Things reminds readers that even in our darkest chapters, hope can still be written into the story.
