Full Review
Tucked into a familiar-looking strip mall on the northwest corner of F.M. 550 and F.M. 549—complete with the usual suspects like nail salons and boba tea shops—Manny’s Tex-Mex Restaurante stands out as a warm and welcoming escape into comfort food and hospitality.
Parking? No problem. The lot services multiple shops, so even if it looks packed, don’t let that deter you—there’s often plenty of room inside.
As soon as we stepped through the doors, we were met with a friendly greeting. The interior is clean and familiar, with dark chairs, wooden tables, and Tex-Mex decor that keeps things cozy without being overdone. We were seated quickly, menus in hand, and off to a good start.
Drinks & Menu
Before we get into the food, let’s talk drinks—Manny’s offers a surprisingly robust spirits list, boasting 20 tequilas, plus mezcal, whiskey, gin, wine, and more. Whether you’re there for margaritas or a neat pour of your favorite scotch, you’re covered.
The menu itself is refreshingly concise. With a good portion devoted to variations of queso and quesadillas (10 types of queso and 14 quesadilla options!), you won’t feel overwhelmed flipping through pages of filler. As someone who appreciates a “do less, do it well” philosophy, this was a win in my book.
Service
We hit a small hiccup in the beginning—it took about 15 minutes for our server to arrive—but a food runner dropped chips and salsa off quickly, which helped. Once the server realized we were his table, service was top-notch for the rest of the evening. Refills, check-ins, and requests were all handled with a smile and efficiency.
What We Ordered
Manny’s Queso – $11

This queso is no dainty appetizer—the portion is hearty and shareable. Served with ramekins of guacamole and crema on the side, you can customize each bite. The flavor? Think ballpark nacho cheese meets chili—comforting, nostalgic, and rich. It’s not the fanciest queso in town, but it hits the spot. We nearly licked the bowl clean.
Fajita Quesadilla (Half Order, Beef) – $13

A visual stunner. The quesadilla arrived with magazine-worthy presentation: golden-brown, cheese-laden slices with that crave-worthy cheese pull. Packed with well-seasoned, charred fajita beef and gooey Monterey Jack, every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The accompanying pico, guac, and crema were fresh—though I wish there was just a bit more to go around. Honestly, the half order was plenty after sharing the queso.
Brisket Tacos – $17

These came with beans, rice, and a sliced avocado salad. While visually promising, the flavor didn’t quite match the excitement of the quesadillas. The brisket leaned more toward pot roast than true smoked flavor, with seasoning seemingly added after the fact. Some bites were tender, others a little dry. Still enjoyable overall, but it felt like we caught this dish on an off night. My wife, however, had a different take—she loved it and chalked my taco up to bad luck. So take that for what it’s worth!
Final Thoughts
Manny’s Tex-Mex delivers on what matters: hearty portions, flavorful dishes (especially the quesadillas), fair pricing, and warm, attentive service. The ambiance is casual and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. While not every dish blew us away, the overall experience left us happy—and full.
Worth a visit? Absolutely. Whether you’re a queso aficionado or just craving classic Tex-Mex done right, Manny’s is a local treasure worth discovering.
