Hey, Rockwall readers! Our county’s non-profits are out there making waves, and this week’s been a busy one for five local standouts. From music and art to health and hope, the Greater Rockwall Youth Symphony, Rockwall Art League, Children’s Advocacy Center of Rockwall County, Rockwall County Helping Hands, and Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County are proving why they’re the heart of our community.

Here’s the latest, straight from the buzz around town.

Tomorrow, February 28, the Greater Rockwall Youth Symphony and Rockwall Art League are joining forces for a special kickoff to their third annual Symphony of Color fundraiser at The Center (108 E. Washington St.). This 1920s-themed preview night—think French cuisine, raffles, and a live auction—sets the stage for the main event on May 2, 2025. GRYS’s young musicians will play Rimsky-Korsakov and Marquez, with RAL’s artwork lighting up the room. It’s a teaser for the bigger show, supporting kids’ music and local artists alike. Last weekend, RAL also hosted a Zentangle drawing session on February 22, a laid-back art event led by Donna Norton that blended mindfulness with creativity—perfect warmup vibes.

Meanwhile, the Children’s Advocacy Center is launching their “Go Blue for Kids Kickoff Party” March 27, 2025 at Standard Service Rockwall from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm leading up to the 9th Annual Go Blue for Kids Gala to be held on Saturday April 26, 2025, at the Hilton Rockwall/Dallas 2055 Summer Lee Drive Rockwall, TX 75032

Rockwall County Helping Hands has taken a transformative step forward with its new building, funded through a successful $6 million capital campaign. Located on the existing campus at 950 Williams Street, the facility is strategically situated alongside the Thrift Store and Boutique, creating a centralized hub for community services. This integrated location enhances accessibility, allowing clients to receive emergency assistance, shop for affordable essentials, and access healthcare—all in one place.

Meals on Wheels Senior Services hasn’t let the cold snap slow them down. After securing a $1.29 million Mabee Foundation grant in November for a new Senior Life Center, they’re keeping seniors fed and connected—think 46 years of deliveries plus Allan’s Companions visits. With ERCOT’s power notice on February 23, they’ve probably been extra vigilant, ensuring our elderly neighbors stay warm and cared for.

These five are Rockwall’s unsung heroes, stitching our community together. That measles ripple—124 cases in West Texas, one here—shows how vital their work is, from arts to advocacy. We’ve pulled this from the news humming through our county, but we want to hear from you. Got a story about these non-profits or any others you’re involved with or passionate about?
