Rockwall, TX-Nov. 26, 2024 – Rockwall County Commissioner Dana Macalik has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Texas Conference of Urban Counties (CUC).
Commissioner Macalik will serve on the CUC Board of Directors, which is responsible for directing the business of the Association and will play a meaningful role in providing leadership on legislative and policy issues for the member counties of the Texas Conference of Urban Counties.
The Texas Conference of Urban Counties was formed in 1975 by the six largest counties in Texas (Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, El Paso, and Travis counties). Over time, other less populous urban and urbanizing counties have recognized the benefit of working together. Today, 33 member counties represent almost 80% of Texas’s population.
CUC is dedicated to strengthening county governments’ ability to deliver essential services efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, CUC provides tailored educational programs to support the professional development of urban county judges and commissioners, ensuring they are equipped to meet the unique challenges of urban governance.
Commissioner Dana K. Cullins Macalik, elected to the Rockwall County Commissioners Court (Precinct 2) in November 2022, brings extensive leadership experience and deep ties to her community. A 5th-generation Rockwall County resident and Rockwall High School graduate (1980), she holds a BBA from Sam Houston State University and advanced operational management training from Loyola University. With 17 years in corporate leadership and over 15 years in real estate, including as a licensed Realtor, she has also served as CEO of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce. Her civic contributions include leadership roles in organizations such as the Rockwall Rotary Club, Boys and Girls Club, and American Cancer Society, as well as prior service on the Rockwall City Council (2017–2022) and as Mayor Pro-Tem (2019).
