Rockwall, TX May 28, 2024 — A severe thunderstorm swept through Rockwall, TX this morning, leaving extensive damage and causing significant disruptions. The storm, characterized by high winds, heavy rain, flooding, and lightning, has resulted in widespread power outages and fallen trees.

“As of 3 p.m., more than 600,000 homes and businesses are without power. Due to the extreme nature of he damage, customers should prepare for extended outages. In many cases, complete reconstruction of electric facilities will be required, including replacing utility poles and transformers before new power lines can be installed. Oncor vegetation management personnel must also remove tree limbs and other debris from lines before repairs can be made. Oncor teams are mobilized and we have requested additional support from utility partners across Texas and other states. Safety for our teams and the public remains Oncor’s number one priority. If you see a downed power line, please stay away, keep pets and others away and call 911 immediately. In addition to the downed line potentially being energized, anything touching the power line, such as a tree branch, could also be energized. Please do not touch the power line or anything else touching it. To report a power outage or check the status, text OUT to 66267, use the MyOncor app, click “Report an Outage” on the map. We recognize the challenges of being without power and greatly appreciate yours and our customer’s patience as work continues. There will be further updates as they become available” said ONCOR Area Manager, Kristy Tyra.

Local emergency services and utility companies are working diligently to restore power and clear debris. To report outages, please use the link below. Please anticipate a power recovery time of 12-24 hours.
