Dorothy Christine Kingston was born January 2, 1945, in Neodesha, Kansas to Lloyd and Mable Genevieve Bretches. She was the youngest of four children. She attended Neodesha High School and graduated in 1963. She moved to Texas and raised two beautiful children, Mark and Jennifer. Dorothy worked at Levi Strauss as a seamstress, Texas Instruments assembling transistors, and White Motor Freight as a secretary. Later, she earned her real estate license and worked for Ebby Halliday. She attended classes at Northlake Community College and earned her associate’s degree.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, swimming, and watching movies. Her hobbies included creating floral arrangements, painting ceramics, and crocheting. One of her greatest passions was her love of all animals, especially dogs and cats. Dorothy was courageous and resilient, with a loving, quiet,
and gentle spirit. Church was an important part of her life and she was devoted to Christ.
On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Dorothy was called Home. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents: Lloyd Leroy Bretches and Mable Genevieve Bretches; and her sister: Phyllis Jarred. Dorothy is survived by her son and his wife: Mark and Sabrina Kingston of Garland, TX, and her daughter: Jennifer Mattison of Charlotte, NC; sisters and their husbands: Geneva and Michael Creecy and JoAn and Ron Polk. Her life and legacy will live on through her grandchildren: Halen and Dilan Mattison, and Bailey Kingston who is blessing her with her first great-grandchild in February.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, September 26, 2022, at Rest Haven Memorial Park – The Cottage in Rockwall, TX.
