On September 2, 2022, at approximately 12:00 am, two Sachse Police Officers were in the parking lot of Medpost Urgent Care located at 7760 State Highway 78 in Sachse on an unrelated call for service. While completing the call for service, a subject walked up to the driver side of the police vehicle and fired a shotgun through the window of the police vehicle. The officer sitting in the driver side seat was struck in the head from the shotgun blast. The second officer returned fire, striking the subject. Both officers and the suspect were taken to an area hospital for their injuries. Both officers received non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released from the hospital. The suspect was undergoing surgery at the time of this release. As per Department protocol, the Texas Rangers were notified and responded to the scene. The Texas Rangers will be conducting the investigation surrounding this incident. All inquiries should be directed to DPS – Ranger Division.
