Thelma Sprecher died May 28. 2022 at the age of ninety-one. At the time of her death, she was a resident at Ariel Point Memory Care in Sachse but had previously lived in Rowlett for many years. Thelma was born in the small town of Bridgeport, Texas to Roy and Mabel Raven and had two younger siblings. Growing up during the depression presented special challenges for most everyone and Thelma started working part-time at a young age to help supplement the family income. She graduated from high school early while also caring for her extremely sick mother. Several years later, she met and married the love of her life Art Sprecher and celebrated over 71 years of marriage until his sudden death six months ago.

Thelma and Art moved to Garland in 1954 and raised their family there before moving to Texas City in 1979 to pursue new career opportunities. Thelma managed the Texas City School District Credit Union and enjoyed living on the Texas Coast entertaining friends and out of town visitors. An avid reader she also took great pleasure in learning about family history and genealogy.

Upon retiring she and Art moved to Rowlett to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They hosted numerous family gatherings, enjoyed gardening and continued to make motor trips around the country as well as several excursions to Europe. She took pleasure in having friends and family close by and always relished the challenge of solving cross word puzzles.

Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Even in declining health, she was always concerned about the well-being of others, especially her family. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Rest easy mom, your day is done.
