Elizabeth Ann Schleyer, also known as Mom, Gran and Liz, age 64 of Rockwall, TX, passed away May 20, 2022. She was born December 20, 1957, in Houston, TX, to James and Mary Vercher. Liz spent a large portion of her adult life in the Dallas area. Her smile, laughter and love for the Lord were undeniable. She never met a stranger and upon meeting her, you felt welcomed, loved and accepted in her presence. She could recite every episode of the show “I Love Lucy,” and sing every word to any song she heard on the radio. She was full of life and personality. Her children and husband were her greatest joys. She found purpose and showed love through serving them. In addition to serving her family, Liz was involved in several women’s ministries, where her purpose was to help give women hope and restore their faith in Jesus.
For the past 14 years, Liz battled a rare neurological illness. Every day was a struggle. Throughout Liz’s battle, however, she always showed hope and determination. Her faith, perseverance and spunky spirit kept her going. Liz is now healed and free, walking alongside her Lord and Savior, and her family celebrates that with her.
Liz is survived by her husband of 41 years: Mark Schleyer; daughter: Lauren Schleyer-Santagate; son: Aaron Schleyer; granddaughter: Lottie Santagate; and son-in-law: Zack Santagate. She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary Vercher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad Street, Rockwall with Jim Walters officiating. The service will be followed by visitation and lunch.
Flowers are welcome. However, should you feel led, please make a donation in Liz’s honor to Servants of Christ International (http://www.servantsintl.org/) or to Pregnancy Resource Center of Rockwall (https://yourprc.org/).
