Derrell Cornelius, age 86, of Garland, TX, passed away May 25, 2022. He was born November 6, 1935, in Royse City, TX, to Raymond Eugene Cornelius and Annie Lee Baley. Derrell was a graduate of Royse City High School Class of 1954 and was a linebacker for the football team. He continued being a fan and supporter of the Royse City Bulldogs throughout his life. He also graduated from Howard Payne University in 1958. Derrell was also a huge UT and Dallas Cowboys Football fan. He enjoyed golfing in his leisure time. Derrell will be remembered as a hardworking, devoted man who loved his family dearly.
Derrell is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Linda Cornelius; sons: Steve Cornelius and Derek Cornelius; brother: Ray-Mel Cornelius and wife Becky ; and niece: Lea Sandoval. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother: James Cornelius.
A celebration of Derrell’s life will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location, with Pastor Les Joslin officiating.
