Susan Darlene (Akin) Hughes, born in San Angelo, TX, November 20, 1953, passed away in her home in Rockwall, TX, January 11, 2022, with her loving husband, Ernie, by her side.
Susan graduated from San Angelo’s Lakeview High School, in 1972, and moved to Dallas, TX. She met and married Ernest (Ernie) Hughes, on August 25, 1973, in Dallas, TX. Susan obtained her real estate license in 1977. She and Ernie moved to Rockwall, TX, in 1984, where they have resided since.
Susan is survived by her husband, Ernie; step-sons, Chris & Penny Reedy, Tyler, TX, Rob & Carissa Reedy, Cedar Park, TX, and Rich Reedy, Round Rock, TX; daughter-in-law, Angie Emmons; sisters, Shirley Jean & Rick Dale, Dallas, TX, Barbara McCann, San Angelo, TX, Patsy Allen, Goldthwaite, TX, and Wes & Donna Akin, Blue Ridge, TX; brother & sister-in-law, Glenn & Cathey Hughes. Susan has 5 grandchildren, Michael-Liz, Conner, Sophie, Jordan and Eden that she dearly loved; nieces, Alisha & Wes Bass, Whitney Hughes, Jennifer & Jay Bachmann, Lindsay & Ben Haney, Stephanie & Josh Stanley, Shawn Dale, Jason McCann, Jarrod Akin, and Robyn & Mark Chang, of Rockwall, TX; nephew, Scott & Serenity Hughes of Canyon Lake, TX; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Susan was the most kind-hearted, compassionate, selfless, loving person and had a pure heart, a true love for all people, & an uncompromising love for all of God’s creatures. She will be missed by everyone who knew her but by most of all by her husband of 48+ years Ernie.
