Rockwall County Sheriff’s Department arrests two in unrelated incidents over weekend

On January 21st at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Rockwall County deputy conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle pursuant to a traffic violation on Interstate 30 in Rockwall. A felony amount of controlled substances was discovered in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and booked into the Rockwall County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance: Penalty Group 1: greater than 400 grams.

On January 22nd at about 1:30 a.m., a Rockwall County deputy attempted to stop a passenger vehicle for several traffic violations. When the deputy activated his emergency lights, the passenger vehicle initially pulled into the parking lot of a local business. The driver took off again after the deputy exited his patrol vehicle. The deputy pursued the fleeing vehicle, which was being driven at a very high rate of speed and occasionally without any of its lights on. The fleeing suspect drove east on SH 276 to SH 34 in Quinlan, before driving to a local residence and bailing out of the vehicle. With the assistance of Texas Department of Public Safety and Hunt County Sheriff’s Office units, the suspect was arrested, transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center, and charged with Evading Detention with a Vehicle with Previous conviction. Additionally, the suspect had active warrants out of Dallas County and Collin County.
