Marvin Gordon McGee, 92, resident of Mesquite for over 60 years, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Marvin was born to Gordon Grady McGee and Alma McLemore McGee, on June 24, 1929, in Texarkana, Texas.
Marvin graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1947. From there, he moved on to higher education obtaining his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. Marvin was a proud veteran of the United States Army and Army Reserve. He met and married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Ackley, on April 1, 1956.
Marvin was a teacher for the Dallas Independent School District for 35 years, retiring on May 31, 1986. During that time he officiated football, baseball, and basketball games on all levels for 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the Commerce Lodge #439, Ancient, Free and Accepted Mason, Commerce Chapter of the Eastern Star #301, Sulphur Springs Royal Arch Mason Chapter No. 63, Sulphur Springs Council of Royal and Select Master #44, Super Excellent Master Degree, De Molay Commandery #20, Knights Templar, Hella Shrine, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, VFW #6796, American Legion #321 and AMVETS #10 and Dallas Elks Lodge #71.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Beverly Ann McGee; daughters: Yvonne Celeste Hall and Renee Joyce McGee; grandchild: Daniel John Hall and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren: Christian Gonzales and wife Jasmine, and Jayla Reign Gonzales-Hall; great-great-grandchildren: Lucas, Logan, Leo, Jeremiah. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Alma McGee; and grandson: Peter Marvin Hall.
A graveside service to honor Marvin is to be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM, in Rest Haven Memorial Park, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Rockwall, Texas.
