Culinary students from Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy recently competed in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition, and brought home multiple awards as well as scholarships.
FCCLA Culinary Arts Competition results:
Roberto Avila (10th grade) Cupcake Presentation; 2nd place at regionals & 2nd place at state; $5,000 scholarship recipient
Ameil Stovall (10th grade) Cupcake Presentation; regional competitor
Ryker Hayes (9th grade) Cupcake Presentation; 3rd place at regionals & 5th place at state; $1,500 scholarship recipient
Madeline Mueller (10th grade) Sports Nutrition; 1st place at regionals & 1st place at state; national qualifier; $16,000 scholarship recipient
Heather Zertuche (10th grade) Food Innovations; 1st place at regional and state qualifier, $3,000 scholarship recipient
