Yesterday, May 5, just before 3:00 PM, Garland Police Officers responded to a gunshot disturbance at an apartment community in the 2700 block of W. Walnut St. Officers located a 17-year-old male victim in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, officers learned that multiple subjects arrived at the location. It is believed a disturbance occurred that escalated, and shots were fired. The victim was shot, and several subjects fled from the scene.
Officers identified a 15-year-old juvenile male as a suspect. He fled the scene but was located in the 3000 block of Edgewood Dr. The juvenile was taken into custody and is currently in the Garland Juvenile Detention Center.
He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
