This morning, just before 4:00 am Garland Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on westbound I-30 near Rosehill Road. Investigators believe the pedestrian, a white male, was walking in the roadway before being struck by an 18-wheeler. The male was transported to a nearby hospital, by Garland Fire, where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers learned that two 18-wheelers were traveling westbound on Highway I-30 when one swerved the avoid the pedestrian walking in a travel lane. The 18-wheeler traveling behind was unable to stop in time to avoid impact.
The male has been identified, but the name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
There are no other injuries reported and no criminal charges filed on the driver at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
