Utley Middle School students learning through paper mache

In Ms. Baldwin’s art class at Utley MS, the students have been busy making paper mache sculptures. The students are creating figures whether it be an animal, monster, person, food item, etc., that they feel represents them well.

Throughout the process, they have been talking about totem poles and what they represent. When completed, Ms. Baldwin will stack up the sculptures each student has made to make multiple totem poles.

This is an engaging project that has students plan, problem solve, and think outside of the box by having to incorporate line, shape and patterns into their project.
