Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper has taken office as the Chair of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA) Board of Directors.

TDCAA is a non-profit organization and the only one dedicated to serving Texas prosecutors and their staffs in the State of Texas. The Association represents over 6000 prosecutors, investigators, and other key personnel across the state.

Culpepper, elected as the Rockwall County Criminal District Attorney in 2008, was the first woman to take office as a District Attorney in the history of North Texas. She was elected as the 82nd President of TDCAA last year and is also a past chair of the State Bar of Texas Criminal Justice Section and the state’s Professionalism Committee.

“I am honored to once again serve state-wide prosecutors, investigators and other DA personnel,” said Culpepper. “As President of TDCAA during the last year, I worked hard to help re-shape the practice of law during the pandemic and find new ways to further the interests of justice. I am more inspired than ever by prosecutors all over the great State of Texas, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with each of them as Chair of the TDCAA Board.”

Culpepper additionally serves on the Board of the Texas Bar College and state leadership teams combatting issues including family violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. Locally, she is the immediate past Board President of the Rockwall County Children’s Advocacy Center and co-founder of the North Texas Regional Veterans Court.

Culpepper has been named by Texas Monthly as a “Texas Super Lawyer”, by D Magazine as one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas”, and by Forbes SkyRadio as one of “America’s Most Influential Women.” She is married to Rockwall Mayor Jim Pruitt, and they have one daughter in Rockwall schools.
