Battalion 140, Quint 141, and Hazmat 143 are on the scene of a Hazardous materials spill in the 400 Blk of S. Highway 78. A recycling service truck experienced a mechanical failure causing thousands of gallons of used cooking oil and grease to uncontrollably spill from the truck onto the driveway and Highway 78. Units were able to contain the spill but extensive cleanup will be necessary. There is no immediate hazard to anyone in the area, and only one lane of State Highway 78 is closed. Hazmat cleanup companies are on-scene and will be working through the night to clean up the product under the supervision of Wylie personnel.
