Woman found dead in burning Fort Worth house was murdered, police say

On the morning of Monday, September 28th, the Fort Worth Fire Department responded to reports of a house on fire near the 3800 block of Halloran Street in the Como neighborhood.

When firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and heavy smoke was coming from the house. The fire was under control in under 10 minutes.

During a search of the house, firefighters located a deceased woman with severe burns. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as a 24-year-old woman.

Observations at the scene indicated foul play. The Fort Worth Police Department was called in to assist with the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the woman was shot and killed days before the fire.

Police spoke with the woman’s on-and-off boyfriend, a 35-year-old man, who they determined to be a suspect in the case. Detectives found evidence to indicate the man was responsible for setting the fire. He has been arrested on a murder warrant.

The situation remains under investigation.
