TxDOT announces long-term closure of I-30 HOV lanes beginning June 29 for 635 East Project

As part of the 635 East Project construction, the High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes between Jim Miller Road and Northwest Drive will close Monday morning, June 29 until the end of the project in late 2024. At that time, they will re-open as they are – reversible non-tolled HOV lanes.  I-30 HOV lanes between Jim Miller Road and downtown Dallas will remain open and operate on current schedules.
Closures of the following HOV access points within the corridor will include

  • The eastbound I-30 HOV entrance at Jim Miller Road
  • The westbound I-30 HOV entrance at Northwest Drive

Eastbound drivers on the I-30 HOV lanes will be required to exit at Jim Miller Road. Westbound drivers that want to use the I-30 HOV lanes must now use the entrance at Jim Miller Road.


DAYTIME CLOSURES:

  • The left lane of the eastbound I-30 frontage road at Gus Thomasson Road will be closed on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Various lanes of both northbound and southbound Forest Lane at I-635 will be closed beginning Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

  • Various lanes of both northbound and southbound Galloway Avenue at I-30 will be closed beginning Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

  • Various lanes along the I-30 and I-635 frontage roads near the I-30/I-635 interchange will be closed beginning Monday, June 29  through Thursay, July 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

OVERNIGHT CLOSURES:

  • The right lane of southbound I-635 between Centerville Road and Oates Drive will be closed Sunday, June 28 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
  • The northbound I-635 direct connector to eastbound I-635 (Exit 8B) will be closed beginning Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2 from midnight to 3 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to use Exit 9A toward Oates Drive. From there, traffic will take the entrance ramp to southbound I-635 and follow signs for the eastbound I-30 exit. For more details, click here for a map.
  • The southbound I-635 direct connector to eastbound I-30 (Exit 8B) will be closed beginning Monday, June 29 through Wednesday, July 1 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. Traffic will be detoured to take Exit 7B toward Town East Boulevard, using the U-turn lane to access the northbound I-635 entrance ramp. From there, drivers will use the exit to eastbound I-635 (toward Texarkana). For more details, click here for a map.
  • The westbound I-30 direct connector to northbound I-635 (Exit 56B) will be closed beginning Tuesday, June 30 through Thursday, July 2 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. Traffic will be detoured to use Exit 56C toward southbound I-635. From there, traffic may take Exit 7B toward Town East Boulevard to access the U-turn lane that would take them to northbound I-635.   • The eastbound I-30 direct connector to northbound I-635 (Exit 56B) will be closed beginning Tuesday, June 30 through Thursday, July 2 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. This closure will repeat July 6-8, during the same times. Traffic will be detoured to use the exit to southbound I-635. From there, traffic will take Exit 7B toward Town East Boulevard to access the U-turn lane that would take them to northbound I-635. For more details, click here for a map.
  • Various lanes of westbound I-635 between Plano Road and Greenville Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 10 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

  • The westbound I-30 entrance ramp from Gus Thomasson Road will be closed on Friday, July 10 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. Traffic will be able to use the next available entrance ramp, just past Motley Drive.

    **Direct connector closures scheduled within the same dates/times will not be closed all at once (will be closed one at a time).

PERMANENT CLOSURES:

  • The High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV)/Express Managed Toll Lanes between US 75 and I-30 were closed Monday morning, April 27, lasting through the end of the 635 East Project in late 2024.  Drivers traveling eastbound on the LBJ TEXpress Lanes (I-35E to US 75) are now required to exit onto the main lanes after US 75.
