City of Rockwall reopens amenities, encourages residents to ‘go outside and play’

Rockwall, Texas – June 5, 2020 – While safety precautions are being taken, the City of Rockwall wants residents to know that many amenities are back open and ready for use. The City Council voted on Monday, June 1 to officially reopen the majority of public facilities and reinstate outdoor events and programs. A few months ago, as the COVID-19 outbreak began, per Governor Greg Abbott’s orders, the City of Rockwall took a number of steps to ensure the safety of residents, including cancelling public events and programs, closing public restrooms, and removing basketball nets, all to discourage public gatherings. Now, as the Governor has begun to ease restrictions, the City is inviting residents to once again Go Outside and Play!

Social distancing signs have been posted, and a number of hand washing stations will be utilized for safety. Here is a list of things that are once again available for public use:

·     Myers and Foxchase spray parks open

·        Pickleball courts open

·        Dog park open

·        Swings reinstalled

·        Basketball rims reinstalled

·        Water fountains on

·        Restrooms open
