Shirley Sue Whitley, age 70 of Rowlett, TX, passed away May 6, 2020. She was born November 20, 1949, in Fort Worth, TX, to Grady E. and Elsie (Evans) Burton.
Shirley worked in the textile industry, transportation, and interior design as an executive assistant, office manager, and bookkeeper. She was an entrepreneur and business owner.

Shirley founded the Rocking Horse Craft Company with her mother, creating handmade baby quilts and other baby items, Christmas tree skirts and stockings, selling them at craft shows at the Dallas Market Center and consigned to specialty shops throughout the Dallas area. After closing the business, she continued to gift her family with unique handmade items. Shirley was an avid gardener, and lovingly remembered by her family and friends of her infectious laughter and generous heart.

Shirley is survived by her granddaughter: Chelsea Moore of Rowlett, TX; siblings: Glenn and Threasa Burton of Dallas, TX, Joy Short of Corinth, TX, Marshall and Linda Burton of Alba, TX; seven nieces, eight nephews, four grandnieces and six grandnephews and a large extended family all across the US. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Paul Reid Whitley in 2015.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, TX. The family will gather with friends at Rest Haven Funeral Home — Rowlett Location Tuesday, May 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
