Suspect in custody after SWAT standoff ends peacefully in Royse City

On Sunday, May 24, 2020, the Royse City Police Department received a report of an aggravated robbery. It was reported that a subject was held up at gun point in a parking lot of a local business and the suspect fled to a room at the American Inn Motel on IH30 in Royse City. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect but he refused to cooperate. Due to the fact the subject was supposed to be armed and had reportedly just committed a violent offense, the Royse City Police Department requested the help of the Rockwall Police Department SWAT team. After a brief time, the suspect exited the room and was taken into custody without incident. The subject was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and the aggravated robbery remains under investigation.
