A message from our Chief of Police Michael Godfrey –

The Rowlett Police Department would like to thank you for your support. You have always shown us an incredible amount of appreciation and for that we are thankful. We strive every day to ensure we earn that support. The men and women of the Rowlett Police Department are committed and dedicated to the citizens we serve. We are working hard to interact with our community in a professional, respectful, and unbiased manner at every opportunity. Recently the relationship between law enforcement and the community across this country has been tested and strained as a result of the tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Please know that the Rowlett Police Department does not condone, support, or defend the actions of the officers involved. We are confident justice for Mr. Floyd and his family will be served and we as a nation can move forward in a peaceful manner to continue building and strengthening not only race relations, but all relationships, especially those between law enforcement and the community. I would rank the Rowlett Police Department at the top against any law enforcement organization and have all the faith in our men and women to perform exceptionally in any given situation. All of our employees are trained well and have exhibited an extraordinary ability to use great judgement and common sense. I ask that you not allow this incident to question your faith and trust in us as we will continue to serve you in the manner you expect and deserve. We are here for you as you have been here for us. Thank you again for your support and for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of your family and community.

Sincerely,
Michael Godfrey
