It is with deepest sympathies we must report an additional death at the Broadmoor Facility. We now have a total of four deaths related to COVID-19 in Rockwall County.

Yesterday we reported there are a total of 39 COVID-19 cases, 20 residents that includes 3 fatalities, and 19 staff at Broadmoor. A second round of testing has begun and they continue to work closely with the local health authority, the County Judge, and the Office of Emergency Management. The total number of positive cases in this update does not match the graphic update on Facebook or the County website. This is because Broadmoor has shared real-time information with RCOEM, and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) data lags a bit behind. Also, all positive staff does not reside in Rockwall County. DSHS will not include those in Rockwall County’s aggregate number.

The first two positive cases were reported on April 22. On April 23, four more were reported and it was announced that all residents and staff would be tested. The first death at the facility was reported on April 25. As of April 29, there were 26 cases at the long term care facility. Two additional deaths were reported on May 1.
