Bertha Hartless Obituary

Bertha Hartless, long time resident of Rockwall, Texas, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, 93 years of age, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 2, 2020. Bertha was born on February 7, 1927 in Alto, Texas to Andrew Jackson and Alice Mettlen Moran. Bertha graduated from Jacksonville High School. She met the love of her life, Ocie Hartless, Jr., in her Sunday school class on his first Sunday after returning home from service in WWII. Ocie and Bertha were married on May 21, 1947.

Bertha was the consummate homemaker. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, being a mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared family pictures with everyone who visited. She touched the hearts of family and friends with her big smile and thankful spirit. Bertha was a strong Christian woman. She was active in her faith and a true testament to Jesus Christ. Bertha was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Heath.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Ocie Hartless, Jr.; grandson, Daniel Paul Hartless; brothers, George Moran and wife Ruth; J.C. Moran and wife Mary; sister Lucy and husband Jack Woodard; brother, Marshall Moran; and sister, Jane and her husband, Max Hubbard.

Bertha is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband, Rex Latham; grandsons Kyle and wife Kjirsti Latham and their children, Tyler and Kylie Latham; Mark and wife, Shanna Latham and their children, Maci, Lola, and Luke Latham; her son, Don and wife Sylvia Hartless, granddaughters; Carrie and husband Tom Centarri and their children, David, Augustine and Adelaide Centarri; Allison and husband Steve Reeves, MD and their daughter, Rosemary Reeves; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Cameron.

A private graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park, officiated by Brother Paul Jacobs. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to charities to benefit those in need.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Good Life Senior Care in Heath, Texas and Kindred Hospice for their loving and excellent care.
