In his Press Briefing today, Governor Abbott clarified again his position with regard to golf courses and playing golf. He has restated that golf courses are not essential business and should close; however this does not prohibit individuals from playing golf under certain circumstances. These circumstances include:

  • Clubhouses must close to employees, members, and the public
  • Individuals can play golf, but distancing must be strictly observed
  • No carts can be used
  • No pin flags can be used
  • No rakes can be provided or used
  • No T times can be set up or reserved

Of course, golf course owners/management may still make the choice to not allow play or to allow play under the terms of the governor’s most recent clarification.
