Rockwall County and Collin County leaders met today in emergency meetings.
A disaster declaration was not implemented during the Rockwall County commissioners meeting today.
A press conference with details about the order will be held at 10 a.m. March 24 at the Collin County Courthouse, County Judge Chris Hill said during a March 23 commissioners court meeting.
“Regardless of what we do, and this could continue to evolve; further restrictions could be put in place. Regardless of how that plays out, there has got to be individual accountability and individual responsibility and there has to be responsibilities of the individual businesses,” Rockwall County Judge David Sweet said. “They’re going to have to be involved and have to manage that obviously enforcement is going to be a level of concern.”
On March 22, Dallas County announced a ‘shelter in place’ order effective March 23 at midnight through April 3.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order Thursday, which limits social gatherings to no more than 10 people. The order is in effect until April 3, but could be extended further based on the status of COVID-19 in Texas and the recommendations of the CDC.
There have been no reported confirmed cases in Rockwall County. According to the CDC’s website there have been 24 confirmed cases in Collin County as of the publishing of this article
