Richard “Larry” Holloway, age 72, of Terrell, TX passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 19, 2020. He was born on October 24, 1947, in Corsicana, TX to Richard Talmage Holloway and Roberta Taylor. He was a long time resident and raised his family in Rockwall County.

He worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety as a State Trooper. During his career with DPS, he served in the Driver’s License, Highway Patrol, Warrants, Motor Vehicle Inspection, and License and Weights divisions. He retired after 29 years from the License and Weights division. Larry went on to be appointed and re-elected to multiple terms as Justice of the Peace for Precincts 2 and 3 Rockwall County from 1999 – 2010. He had a passion for serving others and during his time as a public servant, he was known for being courteous, efficient, and very considerate. He upheld his commitment to serve the people of Rockwall County in an honest and ethical manner. He always took into consideration the situation before rendering a disposition. Larry was a proud member of the Fate Masonic Lodge from 1975 – present.

Larry was devoted to and loved spending time with his family. He was adventurous and an avid traveler. He loved going to South Fork, Colorado with his family to spend time outdoors, camping and trout fishing. He enjoyed going on cruises. He loved being on his farm with his cows and horses.

Larry is preceded in death by his grandparents: Spence and Cora Taylor; mother: Roberta Brown; stepfather: James Brown; son: Richard “Bryan” Holloway.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years: Cheryl LaCroix Holloway of Terrell; daughter: Stacy Burton and husband Brian of Terrell; daughter-in-law: Karen Holloway of Royse City; grandchildren: Megan Burton and Jonathan Burton, James Holloway and wife Lauren, Cheyenne Holloway, and Chelsea Holloway; step-grandson Tyler Wren and wife Memory; great-granddaughter: Baylee Sanner; step great-granddaughter: Hadley Wren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
