A 16-year-old high school football player was killed in Plano when shots were fired into a home after several people were kicked out of a party there.

Plano police say the shooting happened Saturday evening. Allen ISD identified the teen killed as Allen High School sophomore Marquel Ellis Jr.

Plano police say they arrested 17-year-old Kemond Smith of Forney at Forney ISD’s alternative campus, the Forney Learning Academy. Smith has been charged with murder. He has been booked into the Plano city jail without bond.

On Saturday night, Plano police responded to a reported shooting at a house party in the 3200 block of Peachtree Lane.

At the scene, police discovered 16-year-old Marquel Ellis Jr who was suffering from anapparent gunshot wound. Ellis, a sophomore at Allen High School, was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Police say the house party was full of teens when several were previously kicked out of the house — only to return and open fire in the direction of the partygoers.
