The first graders at Jones Elementary have been hard at work learning how to write! The students start out by drawing pictures to express their ideas to create their first draft, then they edit for spelling, punctuation and capitalization.
Once the students completed the final draft, they created their final artwork and prepared to “publish” their stories.
There was a red carpet where students walked down and presented their published stories. Students read the stories from authors visiting from other classes and shared their own work.
Afterwards, there was a cookie and punch reception to celebrate the final product. It was a great experience for the young authors!
