From Rowlett Police Department:

An unfortunate reality of the world in which we live in is that mass shootings are finding themselves more frequent in public spaces such as churches and schools. To bury your head in the sand and pretend it can’t happen to you is an ignorant and sometimes deadly mistake we here at the Rowlett Police Department hope you never make.

To help ensure this we, like many agencies in the country, are providing free training to the public. The Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) will include information on the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of law enforcement, civilian response options, medical issues, and the importance of situational awareness.

The objective of CRASE is to help train community members how to be prepared should they be confronted with an active shooter event.

The class dates and times are as follows. Each class will be limited to 35 attendees each to ensure each person gets the best we can offer from our officers.

5300 Main Street (Rowlett Community Center Room D)

Tuesday, September 10th 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Tuesday, September 17th 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Tuesday, September 24th 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Tuesday, October 15th 6:00pm – 9:00pm

To register for a spot, contact Officer Dana Reeves at [email protected]

The average response time for police to an active attack event is THREE MINUTES. Without effective, preplanned response options for civilians during an attack, many victims may be seriously injured or killed before the first responders arrive.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best… y’all look out for each other.
