A letter from Rockwall Mayor Pruitt about the COVID-19 vaccine

I have been asked many times lately about the availability of the Covid-19 vaccine in our City and how we are going to distribute it.

The distribution of the vaccine is administered by the State with no local input as to where or when it is delivered. Local governments do not even know where it will be delivered until it is placed on the State Dashboard. The link to the latest information is found at: https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/immunize/vaccine.aspx. On the right hand side of this home page, you can access week-by-week allocations of the vaccine.

After three weeks of vaccine distribution in Texas, Rockwall County has only received the following doses:

  • Healthcare Associates of Irving, LLP 6435 South FM 549, Rockwall: 100 doses.
  • Sandknop Health Group 1005 W. Ralph Hall Pkwy, Rockwall: 500 doses
  • Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Lake Pointe 6800 Scenic Dr., Rowlett: 700 doses

Total for Rockwall County after three weeks is only 1,300 doses of the vaccine. At this rate, it will take 254 weeks to make it available to everyone in Rockwall County.
