Lt. Col. Bobby W. Jackson, USAF, Retired, passed away after having a heart attack on Sept. 7, 2019.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1926, in Biscoe, Arkansas to the late Vera Brewer and Theodore Jackson. When he was at a young age the family moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he attended elementary and high school. At the age of 16, he made his first solo engine flight in a Piper Cub.
He served briefly in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as an Aviation Cadet. He was in the U.S. Air Force in Korea where he flew B-26 night intruders and in Vietnam where he flew F-4 Phantoms. Among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous Air Medals.
Bobby had Bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Air Science. He was a member of the Air Force Association and the Order of Daedalians. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by Sewell Aviation in Panama City, Florida for 18 years as a Flight Instrument Instructor.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ted Jackson, his sister Betty Gray McFarland and his wife of 56 years, Jean M. Jackson. Jean was the love of his life, the center of his universe and his inseparable soul mate. He is survived by his daughter Lynne McPeak, her husband Jeff and their 2 sons Trent and Jason. Also survived by his niece Patty Methvin, his nephews Mike McFarland and Tim McFarland.
