Frances Carolyn (Byrd) Scott Obituary

Frances Carolyn (Byrd) Scott, age 82 of Garland, TX, passed away March 23, 2020. She was born April 4, 1937, in Clovis, NM, to John Franklin Byrd and Rosalie (Littlefield) Byrd. In 1959, Frances received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX, and loved her career in education, teaching both kindergarten and first grade in New Mexico and Texas, for over 33 years.

She met the love of her life, Larry Scott, in 1959 at Pepperdine University in California. They raised a family and eventually moved to the Garland, TX, area, where they have remained for many years. They were members of Highland Oaks Church of Christ and later East Ridge Church of Christ in Rockwall, TX. In her spare time, Frances loved doing arts and crafts projects, attending church services and traveling around the world. Most important to her was family, whom she loved very much.

Frances is survived by her husband: Larry Scott of Garland, TX; children: Lance Scott and wife Yolanda of Dallas, TX, Lyle Scott and wife Elizabeth of Mineola, TX, Landon Scott and wife Tina of Rowlett, TX, Chris Snyder and wife Sabrina of San Diego, CA, and Sabrina Snyder of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Madison Scott, Teagan Scott, Scarlett Scott, Lilly Rose Scott and Talen Scott; brother: George Byrd and wife Susie of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private graveside services will be held. A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at a later date.
