Donn S. Gilray III Obituary

Donn Stuart Gilray III, age 35 of Rowlett, TX, passed away March 7, 2020. He was born June 22, 1984, in Honolulu, HI, to Donn Stuart Jr. and Kathy (Childs) Gilray. Donn served his country in the U.S. Marines and after leaving the service, worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was attending Lake Pointe Church, in Rockwall, TX.

Donn will forever be loved by all he left behind. He is survived by his wife: Katy Gilray, of Beaufort, SC; sons: Braydon – 9, Gunnar – 4, and Camden – 2; parents: Donn and Kathy Gilray, of Rowlett, TX; siblings: Linda and Jeremy Martinez, of Plano, TX, Jessica Howell, of Sachse, TX, Brandi and Devon Steiner, of Arlington, TX, T.J. GIlray, of Lehi, UT, Katie and Chris Heredia, of Garland, TX, and Genny Gilray, of Rowlett, TX, Monica and Rick Cullins, of Buford, GA, and Ricky and Jennifer Coleman, of Caddo Mills, TX; nieces and nephews: Devyn Shelton, Kelsey, Damon and Caden Cullins; Aiden Clanton; Cameron and Jade Coleman; Adam Sullivan; Daniel, Nique and Dorian Howell; and Lily Heredia.

Donn was a graduate of Rowlett High School, where he played quarter back for the varsity football team and played trumpet in the band. After high school he joined the Marines and served faithfully for 12 years. Donn was a Drill Instructor from 2014 to 2017, at Paris Island and while based previously at Miramar, he was the quarter back for the MCAS Miramar Falcons football team, from 2008 to 2011, among many other great accomplishments.

Donn loved his family, his country, his friends and the Dallas Cowboys, with all his heart.

Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rowlett Location. The family will gather with friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Interment will be in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery Wednesday at 11:15am.
