Mary Abbott Obituary

Mary Abbott, age 84, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on February 11, 2020. She was born December 27, 1935, in Harvey, IL, to Ray Middleton and Dola (Worley) Middleton. Mary and her husband Bill met in high school. They were high school sweethearts. On April 16, 1955, they were married in Aurora, IL, at the Fourth Street United Methodist Church. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall where she was active in W.O.W. (Women of the Word), Society of Saint Stephen’s, Prayer Team, New Beginning Sunday School Class, and the Unity Sunday School Class. Christmas was Mary’s favorite time of year. She loved buying ornaments for her family. Mary loved all the time she spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved games, puzzles, playing scrabble and slots. Mary will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her dearly.

Mary is survived by her loving husband: Bill Abbott of Rockwall, TX; sons: Ray Abbott and wife Beth of Rowlett, TX, John Abbott and wife Tracy of Rockwall, TX, and Bill Abbott and wife Debbie of Rockwall, TX; daughters: Kari Abbott of Rockwall, TX, and Mary Jane Box and husband Eric of Garland, TX; grandchildren: Justin, Andy, Daniel, Luke, Adam, Sadey, Zack, Matthew, Jerred, Collin, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren: Jesse, Everett, William, Owen, Lillian, Evelyn, Kassidy, Jace, Charlie, Amelia, Zayne, Cayden, Liam, Lincoln, Zailey, and one on the way (Madelyn); brothers: Tom and Joe; sister: Judy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister: Deloise; brothers: Marvin, Norman, Jack, and Edgar; and her parents.

A night of remembrance will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 14, 2020, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. A celebration of Mary’s life will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Rockwall. Time is pending.
