ROCKWALL, Texas — August 11, 2026 — Animal dumping, overcrowded shelters and an emerging threat to Texas animals will be at the center of a community conversation in Rockwall as the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) brings its Unleash Change! event to the area.
The event will take place Tuesday, August 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at VineCrafters Winery & Grill and will give Rockwall-area residents and animal advocates an opportunity to hear directly from THLN’s new leadership about some of the most pressing animal welfare challenges facing Texas and local communities.
THLN’s Executive Director and Senior Director of Government Relations will discuss animal dumping, shelter overcrowding, the threat of New World Screwworm and changes on the horizon for animal welfare across Texas.
The conversation is also designed to give local residents a voice. THLN is inviting Rockwall-area residents and advocates to share the animal welfare challenges they are seeing in their own community and discuss what local solutions may be needed.

The presentation is expected to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. Wine and pizza will be available, along with opportunities for attendees to connect with local advocates before and after the discussion.
The Rockwall event offers an opportunity to explore how statewide animal welfare concerns are affecting North Texas communities and what advocates believe can be done to address them.
THLN leadership will be available for interviews, and members of the media are welcome to attend.
