Lloyd Houston Bunch, Jr., age 96, of Farmersville, TX, passed away on January 23, 2020. He was born February 14, 1923, in Blueridge, TX, to Lloyd Houston Bunch, Sr. and Edna (Williams) Bunch. J.R. was a loving father and his children’s hero. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was an amazingly kind and grateful person who never met a stranger. J.R. was a letter carrier for the post office for 30 years. He served during WWII and fought in the Battle of Bulge. He was in the army for eight years and received five battle stars and was a mason for 58 years. He loved going to the Dairy Queen and enjoyed dancing. He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.
Lloyd is survived by his children: Darla Ostoja, Carolyn Burke, Mike and Linda Bunch, Bobby and Rebecca Bunch, and Ann Bunch; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way; sister: Winona Samples; sister-in-law: Jaquita Bunch; very special friend: Betty Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Ophelia Bunch; siblings: Travis Bunch, Conway Bunch, Christine Parks, Kathleen Short, and Wilma Jenkins; grandchild: Cole Burke; and great-great-grandchild: Memphis Bunch.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at North Cities Church, 502 Belt Line Rd, Garland, TX 75040. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
