Rockwall, TX-Dec. 9, 2024 – On Friday, December 6, 2024, the Rockwall County Commissioners Court, along with residents and friends, gathered for the first annual lighting ceremony of the County Christmas Tree at the County Courthouse. Members of the First Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church celebrated the Christmas season with carols and special music featuring their handbells, choir, and orchestra. Rance Rushing, the Lead Pastor of Cornerstone Church, read from the Gospel of Luke, recounting the birth of Jesus. Cornerstone Church also provided cookies and hot cocoa for everyone to enjoy.
Special thanks to Tommy Green, Trent Blackley, Dr. Michael Criner, Rance Rushing, the members of the church congregations, and the Rockwall County Maintenance Department for their planning and participation, and for delivering a memorable evening for all who attended.
County Judge Frank New remarked that special events like this remind us how fortunate we are to live, work, and raise our families in such an incredible community. It’s Christmas time in Rockwall County!
