Child predator arrested in Wylie

Wylie, TX, March 20, 2023 – On March 16, 2023 at 11:00am, a Wylie ISD school counselor reached out to the school’s resource officer (SRO) after a student made an outcry of sexual abuse. Believing that another child was also possibly in danger, detectives from the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County and Wylie Police Department were requested to assist in the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that 40-year-old, Wylie resident, Cedric Johnson had continuous sexual contact with a child under the age of 14. While working to obtain an arrest warrant, officers were able to locate and detain Johnson in a local parking lot. When Johnson was detained, officers also were able to locate the additional child they believed to be in danger. Johnson was subsequently placed under arrest for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child under the age of 14.

This arrest would not have been possible without the work of the school counselor, SRO(s), Detectives, and Patrol Officers. Most importantly, we credit the child for speaking up to get this predator off of the streets.

This remains an ongoing investigation to determine if there are any additional victims.
