Current Rockwall Mayor Pro Tem Trace Johannesen announces he will run for Mayor this coming spring. This will be his final term on City Council.
“It has been an honor these past three terms to serve on City Council. I’m proud to live in such a wonderful city as Rockwall. Our city staff does a wonderful job of serving our citizens. They also enable the public safety we enjoy here.
“I’m also quite proud of what we’ve accomplished via the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation in terms of long-term business development for the city. These businesses offset our homeowner tax burdens and create new jobs. We welcome them with open arms.
“During my final term, as mayor, I intend to maintain the same fiscal responsibility, reasonable growth and absolute governmental transparency we’ve had to date. None of these will change.”
Elected to City Council in 2018, Johannesen currently serves as Rockwall Emergency Services Corporation board member, the REDC Council Liasion, on the Finance Committee and on the Airport Board Committee. In the past, he served on the Flag Committee and as RISD Liaison. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and a former member of both the Corps of Cadets and the Aggie Band.
