Ralph Rawley Snowden, a 44-year resident of Garland, TX, passed away September 7, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born November 20, 1935, in Dallas to Robert Lee and Luceal (Farrar) Snowden. Ralph served his country in the U.S. Army and was very proud of his military career, which included two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army having been awarded numerous military service medals including National Defense Service Medal w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Bronze Star Medal w/V for Valor, Air Medal W/2d Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal w/2d Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal; Combat Infantryman, Korean Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Good Conduct Medal Clasp, and Expert Rifle Badge. Ralph shared 69 years with his loving wife Doris and was dedicated to his family. Children and dogs were drawn to his calm and quiet presence. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Ralph is survived by his wife: Doris Snowden; children: Ray Snowden and wife Jeanette, India Adler; grandchildren: Steven Adler and wife Heather, Justin Adler and wife Stefanie; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Logan, Brenden, Riley, and Prestyn Adler; siblings: Norman Snowden and wife Lana, Sandra Rodges, Rodney Snowden and wife Lisa; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bobbie Lee, brothers-in-law Weldon Lee and Don Rodges, and several members of his extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 19, 2022, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Rowlett. The family will gather with friends prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
