Charlcie Van McClain Snody passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 7, 2022. Charlcie was born in the Turner Community just east of Wills Point, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Johnnie Gee Allen and Neely Mae Hazlewood Allen and sister, Tressie Choate and great granddaughter Sarah Elaine Newman She is survived by sister Gay Rogers. In addition, she is survived by her daughter, Janis McClain Newman and husband, Gary, as well as a son, Dr. T. Van McClain and wife, Nancy, of Memphis, TN.
Charlcie began her schooling at Turner School in Wills Point, Texas. She then moved to Dallas where she attended Forest Avenue High School and continued to expand her education. Shortly after moving to Dallas, she met and married George Tomey McClain. In this first marriage, two children were born, Janis Elain and Tomey Van.
Throughout the years, Charlcie worked as a beautician, a Lab Technician, and Lab Director. In addition, she helped develop and teach classroom materials for a technical institute in Arlington, Texas.
While attending Trinity Life Baptist Church, she met Bill Snody and soon they were married. They had a wonderful 5 years together before Bill passed away.
Charlcie was always an adventurous type being certified in Scuba diving and took many trips to far away places to enjoy the sport and enjoyed traveling at home and abroad. She was also very talented and enjoyed many crafts including quilting and oil painting.
Lala loved her family and was able to share in their experiences. She was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her grandchildren are Dr. Jerry Newman and wife Sally, Kristi Britt and husband Brad, Kelli Newman, Kim Auvenshine and husband Darrel, Amber Jones and husband Dr. Daniel Jones, Vanessa DeGeorgia and husband David, Tommy McClain and wife Rebecca, Her great grandchildren are Sarah Elaine Newman (deceased), Arianna Freelen and husband Jordan, Sarah Brook Bean and husband Kyler, Hunter Britt and wife Megan, Collin Britt and wife Emily, Morgan Vega and husband Zach, Danny DeGeorgia, Leo DeGeorgia, Sarah Grace Jones, and Mamie Joy Auvenshine. great-great grandchildren, Sterling Brooke Freelen, Scarlet Elaine Freelen, Savanna Vay Freelen, Stetson Thomas Freelen, Brecklyn Ann Bean, Spencer-Kay Bean, Karah McClain Bean, Jonas Jeremiah Vega and many nieces and nephews. The service will be conducted by Dr. T. Van McClain. Interment will be at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
