Garland, Plano police investigating murder of Lyft driver, shooting at Plano police headquarters

Today, August 29, just before noon, Garland Police responded to a gunshot wound call in the 400 block of Forest Gate Drive. The caller stated someone was shot and the victim’s vehicle was stolen.

When officers arrived they found a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased on scene by Garland Paramedics.

Homicide detectives are investigating the death as a murder. Officers learned that the victim was a driver for Lyft, a ride share company, and hired to give someone a ride. At this time, it is unclear what led to the shooting.

As officers were investigating the murder, they learned of a shooting that occurred at the Plano Police Department Headquarters, at 909 14th Street. The Lyft driver’s stolen vehicle was located at that scene.

This is an active investigation. Garland and Plano Police personnel are working together to determine what led to the shootings.
